De-Shedding

De-shedding Service for Dogs is the Process of removing dead hair from your Pets thick coat. when there is excessive shedding of the fur. This is important as improper brushing and combing would be ineffective in removing hair from the undercoat and most pet owners primarily focus on removing hair and debris from the top layer of fur.

Double coated breeds such as the Japanese Spitz, Chow Chow, Pomeranian, Corgi, Huskies and Retrievers are the more common breeds that will experience excessive shedding

Benefits: Prevents skin problems, give a healthier and more beautiful coat and allow your house to maintain cleanliness

The price for add on De-Shedding service for Pets varies as it depends on factors such as the extent of the shedding and breed size. The most accurate gauge will be the time taken. Hence, we charge $40 per hour. For small to medium breeds de-shedding should not take longer than an hour, whereas for large breed dogs like huskies it can take up to 2 hours.

Price: $40/Hour

De-Matting

Tangles and matting can occur in all breeds of dogs except those that are short coated. Matting can cause skin fungal issues and in severe cases, it could cut off circulation to your dog’s skin and cause hematomas.

Matting can form mainly due to tangles that are left alone for an extended period of time or less commonly due to excessive shedding in double coated breeds that was not treated for a long period of time.

The price for De-Tangling and De-matting depends on the extent of the matted fur, the breed and size of your dog. The cost will be gauged according to the time taken; $40 per hour. In cases where the matts are too severe, such that it can cause pain and unnecessary stress and trauma to the dog, we will advise not to do so. The alternative to such a scenario will be to shave off the matts. This will avoid traumatising the dog too much.

Can we ignore the Matts and proceed with the grooming?

There have been few customers who request to leave the matts alone and proceed with the trimming and normal grooming. However, we cannot do that because matts get more severe with showering and drying. Because matted fur are clumps of fur that are intertwined together developing into cotton ball-like formations. This makes it nearly impossible to do the trimming because fur that are intertwined together have strong bonds that the grooming scissors cannot cut thru easily, and it can spoil the grooming scissors as these scissors are not made to cut thru matted fur. Furthermore, the trim will be very ugly because we cannot do a balanced trim due to the existence of the matts.

Additional Groomer Required

There will be instances where we would require 2 groomers due to the difficulty of handling your dog alone. We do not like to turn difficult pets away as we believe that every pet deserves the rights to grooming services and we prefer to work with your pet to gain their trust over time. But if your pet requires a little more love and attention, a handling fee may be required. We will inform you beforehand as well to keep you in the loop.

Instances that may require additional groomers assistance will be if your dog struggles too much during the nail trimming process, or paw shaving process, whereby without help from an assistant may result in joint injury or bone injury. There may be also situations where your dog moves excessively during the fur trimming process that may be dangerous because scissors are sharp and can cause injuries if a dog does not stay calm. In these situations, the groomer would call for assistance to help hold your dog to help stabilise them so that the groomer can do their job safely.

We hope for your trust and understanding that while groomers are trained to style pets and handle pets, they too have their limitations when coming to very fearful or hyperactive dogs, ultimately, they too want the best for your dogs and to keep them safe during the grooming process.

Prices for difficult pet handling could range from $10-50.
